About the House
Well-known architect Linghao enjoys using concrete, steel, and greenery in his signature. In No. 11 he brings the best of this to the table.
Featuring a raw, pared down aesthetic, this shophouse celebrates the old and the new. The historical section has been lovingly restored, with preserved timber floors and joists, high ceilings, a central staircase and huge rooms. Care has also been taken to preserve old breeze blocks that were embedded in the existing party wall.
The back of the shophouse is comprised of small rooms for those who prefer a more private, cosy space. Glass walls surrounded by little terraces act as a perfect home for plants and greenery. Ceilings and floors in the rear block are made of polished concrete and feature wooden cabinetry for an intimate feel.
This unit is part of our Lor 24A Shophouse Series, where 7 architects were paired with 8 conservation shophouses. The historically-rich façades were preserved, as well as interior features like timber floorboards, joists, and peepholes. Each one of our shophouses exudes a different personality and presents a distinct experience.
About the Neighbourhood
Where flavour meets culture.
Geylang is a tranquil neighborhood filled with vibrant experiences and thought-provoking excursions. Step outside your shophouse for a hearty bowl of Teochew porridge or a greasy Roti John. Walk into the Buddhist library to meditate or sign up for a flamenco dance class. Stroll along the canal towards the East Coast or take a 10-minute bus ride to Kallang Riverside Park where you can catch canoeists and dragon boat teams mid-practice.
