About the House

Gallery House was imagined by husband-and-wife architecture duo, Lekker Design. Their diverse interests result in a varied portfolio of projects, all centered around reimagining and transforming spaces.

In Gallery House, the whitewashed living room swiftly opens up into the dining room. A massive, double height column space, featuring an angled feature ceiling, the space feels like a living gallery. The wide walls and tall ceilings are meant to accommodate large art and installation pieces.

The feature stairwell is canyon-like, with an irregular shape and sculptural look created by large slanted walls. Its windows allow surrounding rooms to look in, and a large skylight drapes the room in natural light.

Details are not overlooked, with laser cut pattern screens for back windows and geometrically-patterned dark granite paving the way to the dining room. Pocket garden spaces throughout the house were introduced to ensure most rooms could have some greenery. Almost all of the bedrooms are also designed with double height ceilings and all rooms are bright and airy.

For those who enjoy art in their everyday lives, one bedroom hovers above the gallery/dining area and is fitted with windows, so the gallery can be viewable from above.

This unit is part of our Lor 24A Shophouse Series, where 7 architects were paired with 8 conservation shophouses. The historically-rich façades have been preserved, as well as interior features like timber floorboards, joists, and peepholes. Each shophouse exudes a different personality and presents a distinct experience.

Geylang is a tranquil neighborhood filled with vibrant experiences and thought-provoking excursions. Step outside your shophouse for a hearty bowl of Teochew porridge or a greasy Roti John. Walk into the Buddhist library to meditate or sign up for a flamenco dance class. Stroll along the canal towards the East Coast or take a 10-minute bus ride to Kallang Riverside Park where you can catch canoeists and dragon boat teams mid-practice.

What do you mean by shophouse living?

Shophouse living means living within conservation shophouses – quintessentially Singaporean works of art. These storied shophouses boast high ceilings, patterned jalousie windows, unique façades and layouts, and each one with its own unique history that will make your everyday living experience that much more memorable.

As historical urban dwellings, shophouses are located in vibrant heritage districts that allow you to experience that street level ambience and belong to the neighbourhood. When you live at Figment, you are living in a boutique home – not a cookie-cutter, copied-and-pasted condo compound.

Wait a minute, isn't that just coliving?

Not so much – this is Figment’s vision of shared housing for grown-ups – that’s mature working professionals. We aren’t here to slice and dice apartments into matchboxes just to stuff as many ‘tenants’ as possible into a building, adult-dorm style. With Figment you always have room to breathe.

You can socialize as much as you want to, but you also reserve the option to retreat to the quiet comfort of your private studio within a spacious 3000ft² shophouse.

How many people are allowed to move into one studio?

We have a maximum occupancy of 2 pax per studio.

What is included in the rental rate?

You get a fully-furnished studio that’s move-in ready. WiFi, utilities, and weekly cleaning of the common areas are all included. To get you started, we’ll provide one complimentary set of bedding and towels, plus some basic household essentials. Of course, your rent includes the use of shared laundry and kitchen facilities, along with common areas for living and dining. You will also enjoy complimentary access to our members-only ‘living-room-away-from-home’, Figment Club House.

Are there any house rules?

We have a common set of house rules (such as quiet hours) across our homes, which all members are expected to agree and adhere to before their stay.

What are your payment methods?

We accept payment by local / overseas bank transfer, PayNow or credit card (processed by Stripe; note that 4% fees apply)

Do you require a security deposit?

Yes, we require a security deposit of 1.5 month’s rent before the commencement of your stay to secure your booking. This security deposit will be refunded within 30 days from the end of your stay.
