Tell me more about the Figment community!

You will be joining a creative community of open-minded, well-travelled professionals. Creative souls from diverse backgrounds in tech, finance, design, and other knowledge industries. Although most members are in their thirties, many are in their sixties and seventies! Rather than our age though, what matters is our shared appreciation of art and culture. It helps to bring a sense of adventure going off the beaten track of cookie-cutter condo living.

Can I work in the common area?

Most definitely. We think you'd figure out a nice arrangement with your housemates if they would also like to work there.

What is the application process like?

The application process is easy and can all be completed online, or in-person if you’re local. First you’ll fill out the application form on our site by clicking the orange ‘Find My Home’ button. We’ll give you a call within the next business day for us to get to know you better. If you’re local to the area, you can go for an in-person tour, or if you’re remote, we can tour with you virtually. At that time, you can reserve the space by e-signing your lease and transferring the security deposit.

What is co-living? What does co-living mean?

Coliving is a modern version of shared living in which residents get a private bedroom in a fully-furnished home with shared common areas. Coliving spaces have become increasingly popular in major cities like Singapore as a means of affordable living for working professionals, digital nomads, and relocating individuals. Compared to traditional rentals, coliving is attractive to residents due to its affordability, flexibility, bundled amenities, as well as a much-needed sense of community.

How much do coliving spaces cost in Singapore?

The monthly rental for coliving spaces in Singapore starts from around $1,400. Keep in mind, the monthly price includes additionals that amount to an average savings of $330 per month compared to a typical rental.

Is co-living worth it? What additional amenities are included in my rental?

Well, you get a fully-furnished suite that’s move-in ready! WiFi, utilities, and weekly cleaning of the common areas are all included. We’ll provide one complimentary set of bedding and towels, plus some basic household essentials to get you started. Of course, your rent includes use of shared laundry and cooking facilities, and the living and dining areas too. Not bad, huh?

Is co-living legal in Singapore?

Under the local Guidelines, coliving properties are not allowed to be used for short-term accommodation – defined as stays of less than 3-months. Coliving spaces such as Figment offer a URA-approved minimum 3-month rental period with month-to-month extensions thereafter.

Can I rent a coliving space in Singapore as a foreigner?

According to the Council for Estate Agencies, to rent property in Singapore, you need to be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident. Non-citizens may rent if they hold an employment or work permit like an S-pass, a student pass, dependent pass or long term social visit pass. That said, even with foreigners holding legal residence, the problem is that most Singapore landlords may not be too pleased with a month-to-month lease agreement and would typically require at least a 1 or 2 year contract. Figment provides a much-needed. flexible alternative for coliving space rentals with flexible lease terms and a 1-month notice period.
