Cavenagh House: Boutique Co-Living Studios on Petain Road
Cavenagh House is one of Figment’s conserved shophouse homes: a 4,091 sq ft heritage house at 34 Petain Road, where Little India meets Jalan Besar, converted into six boutique co-living studios. If you have seen the name in a search result or on a booking page, this is the full picture of the house, the studios and the street.
A conserved shophouse with six studios
Figment describes the interiors as elegant, contemporary and earthy — a middle path for renters who find traditional shophouse decor too ornate and new-build condos too generic. Most studios host one or two occupants (the Clifford Room is a single-occupancy room) and come with a queen or king bed, a desk and windows, and most include a shower. Some units, such as the Fullerton Loft, add a kitchenette and a smart TV.
The studios take their names from familiar Singapore landmarks — among them the Bencoolen Studio, the Mountbatten Studio, the Clifford Room and the Fullerton Loft. Residents share the house’s common spaces, including a fully equipped kitchen, with fast WiFi throughout.

What a stay includes
Cavenagh House runs on the same membership terms as other Figment houses:
- A minimum lease of 3 consecutive months, in line with Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) rules for private residential property
- A security deposit of 1.5 months
- Fully furnished studios, with utilities and one set of bedding and towels included in the rate
- Weekly cleaning available as an add-on service
- Access to all common areas in the house, plus free access to the Figment Club House during your stay
- 15% of rental profits go towards supporting local creators
The neighbourhood: Petain Road
Petain Road sits at the cusp of Little India and Jalan Besar, and the location works in three directions. Straight ahead is the buzz of Little India, to one side the cafes and craft businesses of Jalan Besar, and to the other the quieter residential streets of Farrer Park. Farrer Park MRT and Bendemeer MRT are the nearest stations, and the area is well served by supermarkets, gyms, restaurants and parks.
Who Cavenagh House suits
The house is a natural fit for working professionals and new arrivals who want heritage character without buying furniture or setting up utilities. Because it operates as co-living, you rent a private studio while sharing the wider house — a different proposition from leasing an entire shophouse on your own.
