Editor’s Note, 11/2020: Roads Less Traveled
This November, we’re re-discovering our shophouses and city through new experiences and points of view.
We’re inspired by discussions around nanotourism and new creative ways to experience our big little island city. Here are some fresh ideas and updates about how Figment is exploring Singapore anew:
- We’ve been getting in on the staycations action by offering staycations at our boutique shophouse homes, on our website as well as with esteemed publications T Magzine and Expat Living. You can take part in the currently open draw for a weekend staycation at Library House at this link to experience shophouse living in Emerald Hill.
- Meanwhile online, our doors are wide open at Canvas House for a Youtube house tour hosted by the fabulous Georgia Caney. You can also tour our newly launched Library House and other properties via Matterport.
- How are you using your $100 government-issued tourism vouchers? Top on our list of mini-adventures in Singapore is of course, exploring shophouses. One novel way to do so is on vintage Vespas with Singapore Sidecars, a social enterprise giving tours of heritage neighbourhoods (with a stamp of approval from Avengers director Joe Russo!).
- It turns out running and cycling are great ways to combine some casual sightseeing with a workout. We’ve asked the avid runners and cyclists in our community to share some of their favourite routes from Figment’s shophouse neighbourhoods to downtown. See our city through their eyes (and shoes) here.
